  • 1- Where do you come from? Your age? USA, 40+
2- Why do you want to learn to sketch? I lost my ability to draw when I was diagnosed with a disease, and I’d like to get it back. Plus, it’s very relaxing.
3- How did you discover the blog? (Sorry I’m so curious!) By email.

    BONUS:
    – Which problem are you facing today? I have a slight tremor so it will be difficult to study the hand for precise movements.
    – What would you like to learn from the blog? Snippets of how-to’s, so I can practice them through the day.

Yeah sketching is definitely the best way to drop and communicate our ideas!
Plus it helps us to get more creative going from an idea to another one. 🙂

    • Hello Najmah,

I am always happy to have younger followers on the blog.
By the time you get adult, you will be much more in advanced than many adults.

It is not a race, but I do believe we all can start drawing early.
It all matters on how much you love it and dedicate your time to your passion.

      Cheers,

  • Hi fellow sketchers, Byron from St. Louis. I looking to improve my ability to draw original furniture and product designs. I believe I came across an ad on Instagram discuss how to become a better artist so here I am. One of the problems I would like to address is transforming an ideation succession into usable drawings.

    • Hello Byron,

Oh, I do not do ad on Instagram. Glad to see you on the blog though :).

A TIP on drawing your ideas, is to do NOT start drawing the product itself.
Think of how people will use it, hold it, activate it and so on.
You ca start with some simple storyboard.
Then come up with an ‘architecture’ of your product.
It is like the main shapes.
Then only you can “sculpt it” to hone the design with details.

Hope it helps to better lay down your ideas to transition to a product.
      Cheers,
      Chou-Tac

  • Hi. I would like this for my son 34 years old, who in his teens and early 20s loved designing graffiti and many other things and was good at it!! Unfortunately he hasn’t done much for the last 10-12 years.

    • Hi Christ,

I remember a classmate in my design school. He who loved Graffiti and had also an interest for Fashion design.
The lines and smoothness he had in his Graffiti art was exported to his work for fashion. That was amazing.
Glad you wanna bring more exposure to your son about art and design 🙂

      Cheers,
      Chou-Tac

  • Hello, I am from Bulgaria and almost 40 years old. I’ve been sketching for a while, but I’m always looking for more ideas on how to improve my technique and relax. I found the blog from YouTube videos. The problems I face are the tight, boring sketches I make. Your blog and the videos you make are great and I don’t know what you can do to improve them

  • Jamie Weaver – 38 years old
I love to doodle and sketch while I am on the phone with my clients (I am a DV Counselor). It allows me to focus more on what my clients are saying since I have ADHD. I found your blog by searching for shadow lighting during sketching.

I am pretty good at taking my time with my drawing but I need to learn the basics and practice, practice, practice.

    • Hey Chen,
      How are you doing?
That is so cool you enjoy Industrial design since you were a child.
I myself discover it pretty late.
I went into product design after loving drawing Disney, The Simpsons as a kid… then growing up going to university studying business – where I learned that listening to customers’ needs matters first.
Somehow, I realised Product design combines both of these!

  • This is for my daughter who is 14- she loves drawing and thought this may interest her to include in her homeschooling learning.

    • Hello Paola,

That is great to initiate drawing techniques to your daughter.
Please let me know how it goes. 🙂
I do also believe children and teenager has totally the abilities to learn how to draw early.

It is like learning a new language somehow.
The earlier we grasp the essence of it, the faster we become fluent.

I believe our childhood innocence and natural curiosity makes us absorb knowledge like a sponge.

By the way, congrats for homeschooling your child.
      Cheers,
      Chou-Tac
