  • Hi! I am 40 years of age and come from Alberton, South Africa, I am currently doing Multi – disciplinary draughting and would like to expand my skills and knowledge, I came across the content on YouTube and found it interesting because as a mechanical draughtsman, most of the drawing I am exposed to is strict, linear and non-expressive kind of blend so I want to explorer the techniques and methodology that product designers and industrial designers use to enhance my skillset

  • I’m from Ponchatoula, La. And I am 63 years old. I am out of praciting. I graduated from Louisiana Southern University at 2008 with art major. I found this program by browsed the google.
I lost my talents in Art. I really want to learn to draw realism by free hands. I’m terrible in sketching. I have so many creative pictures in my mind, but I can’t put the pictures on canvas. I lost it.

  • Hi I’m Rani, 26 years old from indonesia. When i was teenager i really love drawing, i can draw quite good. The problem is i still don’t understand the basic, because back then i didn’t learn properly. I hope this book will develop my skill

  • I’m in the US and I’m 75. I was an artist as a young child and into my 20s but life got in the way. I’m interested and starting over just for the love I once had drawing and painting. I was on YouTube looking for some drawing exercises. I want to learn more about perspective.

  • Im 29 years music producer from Kenya.I had started learning the drawing and design few years ago but due to environmental change,it forced me to focus on the art of music production and vocal coaching although i still felt the desireand passion of learning and knowing the product designing.thats when i bumped into your video on YT about product sketching.

  • I’m 26, from Mexico. I’m a 2D animator but I struggle with how to draw forms that feel 3D and have the correct perspective,
I want to be able to sketch forms from imagination and that they feel solid and believable. I want to be able to sketch a lot of things from life and from my mind. While searching on youtube I found your video about how to sketch the basic forms and it was really useful so I wanted to see your blog and learn more.
I think my major problem right now is that I can draw the gesture of an object and understand their form somewhat right but the perspective is always off or I get confused about how to see the perspective at all

  • I’m currently in Connecticut and I’m 49. I’m how to design furniture and want better visualize my designs. Came across your blog during a Google search on resources on design sketching.

  • Hong Kong, 40 years +
I like to learn sketching more effectively so I can sketch from any angle under my imagination so that I can design more effectively
I was browsing web and somehow come to your site: the content looks good and I’m in!
    Problem:
I can sketch but can’t sketch effectively enough, in particular from any angle or perspective. Also I am good at draw via observation but am not familiar with more rational approach such as those sketching skills used in product design.

  • I am a curious sketcher. I am fascinated to learn to draw because it is therapeutic. I discovered the blog by searching the web on sketching. Thank you for the free download version. I have been looking for a book like this, and I am happy because it will lead me to better enjoy drawing. It is free too. Thanks.

    • Hi Justin,

Oh that is true. Drawing is therapeutic :))

It is an amazing feeling when you draw, and without knowing you go into a a bubble of meditation when nothing else exists around you.

It is all about you and your paper. 🙂

      I love sketching…
I found your blog in the YouTube Channel, watching the sketching videos.
I would like to watch maybe some videos with my students, because I think they are easy to understand and hope so they would have more fun to try and practise…
      Thank you for doing this!

I AM VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE WAY YOU CREATE PRODUCT SKETCHES, which I found in the YouTube channel description from watching the design sketch videos.

  • I just started with this blog tutorials and it’s really fascinating for anyone that wants learn how to sketch from scratch

  • NC, USA, 39,
I like to repurpose junk and turn it into useful products for myself to use. I spend to much time realizing after days of trying my ideas are flawed. Hoping if I can draw it I won’t waste so much of myself being a failure and maybe just once have an idea, have the materials and with a planned sketch actually do something right. Perspective grids make sense but drawing the thing on the grid doesn’t. Can’t even get a box to go right after hours and hours and so many videos. I googled PDF download on product design perspective

    • Hello Chris,

Hope you find plenty of techniques and tips that will help your students.

Feel free to print the Designer Starter Kit for them if you think it can help them during your class.

      Cheers,
      Chou-Tac

  • Hello
    I’m from France aged 64.
Although I used to be a graphic designer/art director I don’t feel “fluent” with sketching .
Lately i’ve been doing pottery and I really feel the need to sketch my designs before working with clay. I would like to be able to sketch my ideas with different point of vues.

    • Coucou Ariane,

      Comment ca va?

Glad you mentioned the term “fluent” about sketching as it is also a language we use to communicate. 🙂

      A bientot!
      Chou-Tac

      PS: Je suis francais.

  • 1) USA, 31
    2) I want to learn how to sketch to help with seeing in 3d and breaking down images into simple forms first for prop for creature character design.
    3) I discovered from the YouTube channel description from watching a design sketch video.

Bonus: the problem I have is being unable to transform 2d images into 3d forms. I’d like to build up my 3d visualizing skills.

  • I come from south africa and 19 years old. I really enjoy sketching as I find it as another way of expressing your emotions and also showing how you personally see the world from your point of view.

    • Hi Nqobile,

      Love your name!
It is the first time I see it.

That is a wise approach to art and design that I fully agree with you.
We feel good when we draw. And we tell stories with emotion through our lines.

      🙂

      Cheers,
      Chou-Tac
