Keep up learning how to sketch.
For Photoshop, a good trick is to keep it simple at the beginning.
Focus on black and white shadow using a simple touch of brush, and adjust with rubber.

I’m 26, from Mexico. I’m a 2D animator but I struggle with how to draw forms that feel 3D and have the correct perspective,
I want to be able to sketch forms from imagination and that they feel solid and believable. I want to be able to sketch a lot of things from life and from my mind. While searching on youtube I found your video about how to sketch the basic forms and it was really useful so I wanted to see your blog and learn more.
I think my major problem right now is that I can draw the gesture of an object and understand their form somewhat right but the perspective is always off or I get confused about how to see the perspective at all

Problem:
I can sketch but can’t sketch effectively enough, in particular from any angle or perspective. Also I am good at draw via observation but am not familiar with more rational approach such as those sketching skills used in product design.

Yes, there is a difference in techniques used to draw via observation and drawing with a Designer point of view.

I like to repurpose junk and turn it into useful products for myself to use. I spend to much time realizing after days of trying my ideas are flawed. Hoping if I can draw it I won’t waste so much of myself being a failure and maybe just once have an idea, have the materials and with a planned sketch actually do something right. Perspective grids make sense but drawing the thing on the grid doesn’t. Can’t even get a box to go right after hours and hours and so many videos. I googled PDF download on product design perspective

Drawing will definitely help you visualize and test multiple proposals fast.
I have published recently a video on how I recommend you to draw something new 4 times. The 1st time being an “ugly sketch” to drop down the main elements without worrying about perspective or details.
Then you will redraw a better version of it. And so on. 🙂
It is called “Iteration”.
And that remove the stress of doing perfect sketches.

Lately i’ve been doing pottery and I really feel the need to sketch my designs before working with clay. I would like to be able to sketch my ideas with different point of vues.
