Do you know that drawing is also about motivation management?
I recommend to do not go into details too early. It is tempting but you need to resist. Work first on the main settings and make sure they are good enough to carry on. I rather do a major mistake of proportion at early stage, then redo. Than spending a lot of time on some beautiful details and realize later that the proportions are incorrect. Wasted effort. It may kill the motivation of the day!
CHOUTAC CHUNG – Street of Penang, Malaysia
I walked around the street of Georgetown area looking for a great spot. Here I found a pretty and quiet street. I could even draw sit on a bench under the shadow of a tree. Awesome! I don’t mind sketching sitting on stair steps, or even on the ground. However, they are not the most convenient to control your drawing lines.
TIP#54
to enjoy drawing longer, spend some time at setting up your scene with the basics.
Let’s see in 3 pictures how I proceed:
1- Set up the perspective with the road and top line of the buildings.
2- Add the main buildings vertical lines to fix the main proportion.
I like to add roughly the advertising panels and windows to identify better each building.
3- Enjoy sketching the details. It is my favourite part. 🙂
