What can a custom-made furniture designer teach us about true design thinking? Join me as I chat with Guillaume Bouvet in Lyon and uncover why direct conversations with users matter more than online research. This eye-opening lesson will change how you approach your next project!

Today we meet Guillaume Bouvet in Lyon, France.
He shares with us how a Custom-Made Furniture Designer works with wood.
He will give us an essential lesson for any industrial designer.
If you love working with wood and designing furniture, you might want to see that. :)
I remember, when I was a student in my design school,
most students only rely on Google to do their research.
most students only rely on Google to do their research.
To find inspiration, and ideas… they look at some articles, facts, and statistics written by journalists, experts, bloggers, or influencers…
That’s great!
But, they never take the initiative to talk to the potential users of the product.
Imagine a waiter getting an order and asking anyone except the customer. Haha.
“If you want to create a relevant product, learn how to ask questions to the right person.”

Guillaume is a friend of my friend.
That’s how I just met him during a business mastermind. (Networking matters)
This is the first time I do have this opportunity to talk with such a talented custom-made furniture designer.
It was a great pleasure to chit-chat with him around the chimney and have a glass of wine. :)
You can discover more about him and his work at: http://www.guillaumebouvet.com/en
I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did!
Have a super nice day!
Cheers,
Chou-Tac
