Hello, it’s Chou-Tac here!
Today, I want to share something that can truly transform your sketching skills and your design journey — taking on a sketching challenge, especially a big one.
Why Take on a Sketching Challenge?
I’m starting a 7-meter Sneaker Sketching Challenge this week — that’s over four times my height! It’s an ambitious and exciting project, and I want to invite you to join me, no matter your skill level.
Whether you’re a beginner or advanced, challenges like this push you out of your comfort zone and encourage focus, dedication, and creativity. If you want to make real progress with your sketching, committing to a challenge like this is one of the best ways.
The Benefits of Big Sketching Challenges
1. Helps You Build Focus and Avoid Procrastination
Taking on a large-scale sketching project teaches you to sit down and focus intensely, which automatically reduces procrastination. Passion needs time and attention—if you’re busy, find your priority. If sketching is your passion, you’ll find the time!
2. Breaks the Comfort Zone and Sparks Growth
The fastest way to avoid progress is to keep doing the same things repeatedly. Big challenges make you uncomfortable but in a good way—that means you’re growing. It’s okay to feel intimidation or shyness; that feeling shows how much your passion matters to you.
3. Accelerates Your Progress Dramatically
Spending long, focused sessions on sketching can multiply your growth exponentially—far beyond what a year of casual drawing could achieve. Yes, it demands patience and practice, but every minute brings real improvement.
Tips to Get Started and Keep Momentum
Use reference images to inspire your lines and shapes. Don’t copy exactly, but allow the references to guide your creativity.
Focus on proportions first—understanding the basic structure is key before adding details.
Don’t aim for perfection on the first try—focus on the process and the joy of creation.
Join the Challenge — Let’s Grow Together!
If you decide to take this challenge with me, send me your sketches anytime. I’d love to give you personal feedback, and I may share some moments live on thedesignsketchbook’s Facebook page.
Final Thought
Remember, growth comes from commitment and enjoying the process, even when it feels tough. You have 365 days in a year—make some of them count for your passion and dreams.
Cheers to your sketching journey!

See you on Facebook Live !
Have a wonderful week.
Cheers,

PS: I am preparing a Sneaker Sketching course for whom wants to go to the next level with me. To do so, I am thinking of a Beta-Test session to register before the official release.
I will welcome a few people to join in only and exchange feedbacks.
Tell me what you think sending me an email at choutac@thedesignsketchbook.com. :)
