Hello! I'm Chou-Tac, a Product Designer from France.

If the sketching methods I’ve acquired aid me in my life and in my industrial design career, I believe that they can also help you reach your dream goal as a student or professional designer.

How to draw sneakers - book

We was drawing at Garden by the Bay, in Singapore. I took a picture of my friend drawing. It was the first I saw someone holding the pen that way (picture below). So I tried. My movement became clearly limited. Maybe I was just not used to it ?!

wrong position holding pen

I ask her to hold the pen how I usually recommend (Position A below). She tried and she was surprised that she could suddenly gain more agility.  She has an opportunity to improve by just readjusting her pen grip.

I invite you to look at how yourself hold your pen. You may try the 3 ways below.

These pictures are extracted from [the Designer Starter Kit]. You can Sign up to the blog, and I will send you the full eBook with some exercises to practice these 3 positions of pen. You will learn how to make straight lines and perfect circles. :)
